TURMERIC HEALTH AND BEAUTY BENEFITS:

GROUND TURMERIC
Turmeric is an amazing spice that I love to cook with because of the anti-inflammatory benefits. Turmeric, otherwise known as curcumin, is a herbaceous plant. Curcumin studies have shown to lower inflammation in the body and have beneficial antioxidant properties. Turmeric health benefits have become popular as more people use this amazing spice.
Turmeric root is typically used in recipes or ground up to add to flavor cuisine. I like to add freshly grated turmeric to my smoothies. Turmeric on its own will metabolize quickly before the benefits are made available to the body. The addition of black pepper increases the bioavailability of turmeric. A pinch of black pepper and turmeric powder added to rice, smoothies, and golden milk are great ways that I incorporate this root into my diet.
ANTI-INFLAMMATORY BENEFITS
I personally love golden milk in my evening routine to help me unwind. Golden milk is a blend of turmeric, black pepper, and various flavors added to whatever warm milk you like. The active substance is curcumin that helps lower inflammation within the body. This is exactly why I love adding turmeric to a lot of my recipes and this healthy egg breakfast recipe is great especially after a difficult workout. The anti-inflammatory benefits of turmeric are great for beginner and advanced athletes for many reasons. Studies have shown that curcumin, helps with joint arthritis and can reduce muscle soreness after exercise. Try this egg wrap after your workout to replenish your muscles with much-needed protein.
Turmeric is also beneficial in boosting skin health. It can help decrease acne and scarring. Not only is it loaded with antioxidants, but also antimicrobial. The use of turmeric can also help those who suffer from psoriasis. The use of turmeric topically as well as internally will bring a beautiful natural glow to your skin. You can make a home mask with a bit of plain yogurt, honey, and add in a pinch of turmeric. Apply to your face for 15 minutes and gently rinse off with warm water.
NUTRITIONAL TIP:
Whenever you cook with turmeric, always add in a pinch of black pepper. Black pepper helps maximize the absorption of curcumin.
FRESH GINGER ROOT
Ginger is amazing at reducing nausea and upset stomach. Studies have also shown that ginger has protective effects against stomach ulcers (1), Ginger also helps block bacterial infections because of its anti-fungal properties. This is why I love eating raw ginger whenever I am feeling under the weather. Studies have shown that the use of ginger extract was effective against drug-resistant bacteria (2).
