A fajita is a Mexican dish of seared or grilled chicken or meat strips in sliced bell peppers and/or onions, typically served with warm tortillas.

For a healthy diet, it’s important to avoid processed foods that contain trans fats and saturated fat. This easy chicken fajita recipe is healthy because we can control the type of ingredients we use at home. So, by replacing higher fat cuts of meat with lean white chicken breast, this typical Mexican meal is healthy and delicious.

Sesame Garlic Beef Recipe

Description

This sirloin steak is infused with sesame oil, soy sauce, ginger, and garlic. It will turn your mundane lunch or dinner into one delicious quick dinner.


Ingredients

Scale
  • One pound of beef sirloin
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons lime juice
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, chopped
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper, chopped
  • 3/12 cups broccoli florets
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup onion, chopped
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper, ground
  • 56 ounces gluten-free noodles
  • Serve with fresh lemon wedges

Instructions

Step 1:
Preparing the steak
To start with, slice the beef into thin strips. Add them in a sealable plastic (kitchen) bag. Follow by mixing the lemon juice, 1 tablespoon sesame oil, soy sauce, ginger, crushed red pepper, and garlic in a bowl. Mix this in the beef strips sealed in the bag. Refrigerate for 30 minutes.

Step 2:
Broccoli and frying the steaks
Boil some water in a saucepan, then, as instructed in the package, boil the noodles. Reserve ½ cup of noodle water after you’ve drained. Next, add the broccoli, pepper, onion, and 2 tsp of sesame oil to a non-stick pan over medium-high heat. Stir occasionally until the broccoli is tender for about 7-8 minutes. Then cover to keep warm. To a hot pan, add half of the beef, but reserve the marinade, and then cook as you stir until slightly pink at the center. Transfer them, then cover to keep warm. Do it with all the beef strips.

Step 3:
The marinade
The third step is to pour the water you reserved and the marinade in the pan on a medium flame. Add the noodles, then for 3-5 minutes, keep stirring until they are soft.

Step 4
Among 4 portions, divide the noodle mixture, top with the beef and the broccoli. Finish up by seasoning with some sesame seeds. Enjoy when hot with lemon wedges.

What to do with leftover chicken fajitas?

1. First, shred the chicken and add it to a freezer bag.

2. Then, add the veggies and sauce into a freezer bag, as well as any remaining tortillas or gluten-free wraps.

3. Finally, freeze the chicken and veggies in separate bags for up to three months.

Yes, they freeze well for up to three months.

Fajitas are a Tex-Mex meal that can be served with any side dish: Rice, baked potatoes, gluten-free corn tortillas, gluten-free flour tortillas, vegan refried beans, black or pinto beans, salsa, guacamole and/or sour cream.
