Can you Cook Meat in Sesame Oil?

Yes, sesame oil can be used like any other cooking oils. Sesame oil adds depth of flavor and nuttiness to any dish. For instance, this oil is perfect for stir-frying meats and vegetables.

Quick Tips for Making Sesame Beef Stir-Fry:

  • Slice the beef against the grain. This will ensure your sesame garlic beef stir fry meat comes out tender and not tough.
  • Prepare the marinade ahead of time and marinate for at least 6-8 hours. Overnight is perfect. If you are in a hurry, marinate for 15-20 minutes.

Sesame Garlic Beef Recipe

  • Author: Laura Villanueva
  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x
  • Diet: Gluten Free

This sirloin steak is infused with sesame oil, soy sauce, ginger, and garlic. It will turn your mundane lunch or dinner into one delicious quick dinner.

  • One pound of beef sirloin
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons lime juice
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, chopped
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper, chopped
  • 3/12 cups broccoli florets
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup onion, chopped
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper, ground
  • 56 ounces gluten-free noodles
  • Serve with fresh lemon wedges

  1. Preparing the steak: To start with, slice the beef into thin strips. Add them in a sealable plastic (kitchen) bag. Follow by mixing the lemon juice, 1 tablespoon sesame oil, soy sauce, ginger, crushed red pepper, and garlic in a bowl. Mix this in the beef strips sealed in the bag. Refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  2. Broccoli and frying the steaks: Boil some water in a saucepan, then boil the noodles, as instructed in the package. Reserve ½ cup of noodle water after you’ve drained. Next, add the broccoli, pepper, onion, and 2 tsp of sesame oil to a non-stick pan over medium-high heat. Stir occasionally until the broccoli is tender for about 7-8 minutes. Then cover to keep warm. To a hot pan, add half of the beef, but reserve the marinade, and then cook as you stir until slightly pink at the center. Transfer them, then cover to keep warm. Do it with all the beef strips.
  3. The marinade: The third step is to pour the water you reserved and the marinade in the pan on a medium flame. Add the noodles, then for 3-5 minutes, keep stirring until they are soft.
  4. Among 4 portions, divide the noodle mixture, top with the beef and the broccoli. Finish up by seasoning with some sesame seeds. Enjoy when hot with lemon wedges.

You can even make this low-carb by omitting the noodles and serving in lettuce cups.
