🧇 Easy to Make Gluten-Free Chocolate Waffles Recipe!
These delicious fluffy chocolate waffle dippers are not only paleo-friendly but also gluten-free. This is such a fun and creative way to experience breakfast. This becomes a perfect brunch recipe. These waffles are deliciously sweet and great to meal prep for later in the week.
You can choose to serve with the strawberry dipping sauce, powdered sugar, or any topping of choice. I personally think the combination of strawberries and chocolate is the perfect duo. You can even change out the toppings. Try some fresh blueberries, or swap the strawberries in the sauce recipe, for other fruits of your liking. Peaches are another wonderful option.
I completely understand not wanting to break out your waffle maker during the week, but these are worth it. You can also double the recipe and reheat the waffles later in the week. They are equally delicious as preparing them fresh the same day.
You can prep the dry ingredients and store them as your basic waffle or pancake recipe dry mix. I picked nutrient-dense and fiber-packed flours specifically for this unique basic waffle recipe. This makes it easy to prepare on busy mornings.
🥣 Ingredients for Healthy Chocolate Waffles Recipe
It's easy to make a dessert waffle recipe for breakfast that is also healthy. You simply need quality, nutrient dense ingredients.
- Gluten Free Flours - Almond flour is a key ingredient to making gluten-free chocolate waffles. In addition, I used tapioca and coconut flour.
- Raw Cacao Powder - If you don't have raw cacao powder, swap for unsweetened cocoa powder.
- Ground Flax - This adds a healthy amount of fiber to keep you regular.
- Eggs - These help bind the waffles, but you can swap for vegan flax egg mixture.
- Maple Syrup - This is my sweetener of choice and is perfect for any healthy waffle recipe.
- Vanilla Extract - The quality of your vanilla extract is key to making delicious tasting healthy almond flour waffles.
- Salt - A pinch will help enhance the sweetness of the cacao and maple syrup in these Paleo waffles.
- Dairy-free Milk - I like to use almond milk, but any plant-based milk will work in my healthy Paleo waffles.

🤔 FAQ - Common Questions
These FAQs should help address any common concerns or questions you may have about making this chocolate waffle recipe.
Are These Chocolate Waffles Really Gluten-Free And Paleo?
Yes, the recipe uses almond, tapioca, and coconut flours to keep it gluten-free, and avoids refined grains and dairy, which aligns with a paleo-friendly approach
Can I Substitute Regular Cocoa Powder For Raw Cacao Powder?
Absolutely. The recipe states that if you don't have raw cacao powder, you can swap for unsweetened cocoa powder.
What If I Don't Have A Waffle Maker?
You could adapt the batter to make pancakes instead. Pour it onto a skillet and cook like pancakes. The texture and shape will differ, but the flavour should still be good.
Can This Paleo Waffle Recipe Be Made Vegan?
Possibly. The recipe calls for eggs, so you'd need to use a vegan egg substitute (e.g., flax "eggs" or chia "eggs") and ensure the plant-based milk is used. It may affect the texture slightly. See the food swap guide listed above for advice.
How Can I Make This Ahead Or Store Leftovers?
You can double the recipe and reheat waffles later in the week. After cooking, let them cool, store in an airtight container (or freeze), and reheat (in toaster / oven) when ready.
What Toppings Or Dipping Sauces Can I Use Instead Of The Strawberry Sauce?
I suggest swapping the fruit in the sauce for e.g., blueberries or peaches instead of strawberries. You could also try nut butter, melted dark chocolate (paleo-friendly), or fresh fruit slices.
What Kind Of Flour Does This Paleo Waffle Recipe Use And Why?
The gluten-free chocolate waffles recipe uses almond flour (base), tapioca flour, and coconut flour. The blend helps achieve a gluten-free structure, adds fiber (via ground flax), and mimics the texture of traditional waffles
Is The Nutrition Information Accurate For Everyone?
The nutrition shown (226 calories per serving, etc.) is an estimate provided by an online calculator. You should adjust based on actual ingredients you use and portion sizes.
What Waffle Maker Settings Should I Use?
The recipe says to preheat your waffle maker according to the manufacturer's instructions and then cook approximately ⅓ cup of batter per waffle. The exact time will vary depending on your machine.
