This recipe is popular during the fall because of the delicious apple and warming spices, like a crisp apple pie in a smoothie glass. It was inspired by my other Paleo Apple Pie Bites recipe.

🥣 Ingredients To Make a Crisp Apple Pie Smoothie

1. Milk of Choice - As usual, I recommend unsweetened almond milk. However, any type of milk will work here.
2. Vanilla Protein Powder - I highly recommend my E*Y*N plant-based vanilla protein powder. The vanilla adds to the depth of flavor in the recipe.
3. Coconut Oil - You can substitute with dairy-free butter, avocado oil, or even regular butter.
4. Gluten-Free Quick Cooking Oats - I chose gluten-free quick cooking oats in this apple pie smoothie recipe because I have celiac disease. If you use regular oats, make sure they are still the quick cooking oats for easier digestion.
5. Apple Pie Spice - Ground cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and cardamom are the typical apple pie spices used. Check recipe card details for how to make a quick apple pie spice blend to keep on hand.
6. Green Apple - I like Granny Smith green apples for that bit of tang, but any apple will work in this smoothie.
7. Romaine Lettuce - Sound weird in a smoothie, but this adds extra fiber, micronutrients, and balances the sweetness with a fresh taste.
8. Sea Salt - Just a pinch will bring out the natural sweetness of the apples.

❓ Are Oats Naturally Gluten-Free?

Oats themselves do not contain gluten. However, there is a common concern about cross-contamination during production and processing, as oats can often come into contact with other grains that contain gluten, such as wheat, barley, and rye.

To cater to individuals with gluten sensitivity or celiac disease, it is recommended to look for certified gluten-free oats. These oats are grown in dedicated fields and processed in gluten-free facilities to ensure minimal cross-contamination.

When purchasing oats, always check the product label for the gluten-free certification to ensure you are getting gluten-free oats. This will help you enjoy the benefits of oats without worrying about potential gluten-related issues.
