Chia pudding is my go-to dessert because it’s incredibly healthy AND delicious. There are 101 ways to make chia pudding (maybe more) but today I want to share a few of my favorite combinations and how you can get super creative with your own pudding concoctions. I am sure these easy chia seed pudding recipes will become your new favorites.
The Basics of Chia Pudding
Once you’ve got the basic principles of chia pudding down you’ll be able to create any combination of flavors you can imagine.
Chia Seed Health Benefits:
To start with, one ounce of chia seeds really packs a punch fiber in the fiber department. One ounce is equivalent to about 2 tablespoons of chia seeds. In 2 tablespoons of chia seeds you will provide your body with 11 grams of fiber. In case you didn’t know this, fiber helps keep you full. So by increasing your fiber intake, you will feel fuller for a longer period of time in between meals. So, no more growling stomachs in that morning meeting. That is why this cookie dough overnight oat recipe is perfect for a filling breakfast.
Chia seeds also contain a decent amount of protein and since this is a seed, this would be a great protein option for vegans or vegetarians. The ancient Mayan word for strength is “chia”. Chia seeds definitely live up to that quality these little seeds pack a big nutritional punch. They are such a great energy boosting ingredient to add into any dish. Studies have also found that by consuming chia seeds can help lower cardiovascular risks by up to 17%. There is also some benefits to reduced cholesterol levels, weight loss, and increased satiety by adding in chia seeds into the diet (1).
Key Nutrients of Chia Seeds:
Calcium | Manganese| Magnesium | Phosphorus | Zinc | Vitamin B3 | Vitamin B1 | Vitamin B2 | Fiber | Antioxidants | Protein | Omega-3 Fatty Acids
3 Tablespoons of chia seeds to 1 Cup of liquid
From there the options are endless! Just make sure to mix each combination up thoroughly so the chia seeds are evenly distributed and any powders dissolve completely. Try these and feel free to experiment with your own favorite flavor combos.
Here are some of my favorite combos (each makes 1 serving)
- Tropical Rain – 3 Tablespoons chia seeds + ½ Cup guava juice + ½ Cup coconut milk
- Razzies and Cream – 3 Tablespoons chia seeds + ½ Cup raspberry puree + ½ Cup almond milk
- Orange Creamsicle – 3 Tablespoons chia seeds + ¾ Cup orange juice + ¼ Cup coconut cream
- Strawberry Basil – 3 Tablespoons chia seeds + 1 Cup strawberry puree + 5 basil leaves, finely chopped
- Energy Gel – 3 Tablespoons chia seeds + 1 Tablespoon lemon juice + 1 Tablespoon lime juice + ¾ Cup water + 3 drops stevia
- Chocolate Dream – 3 Tablespoons chia seeds + 1 Cup almond milk + 1 Tablespoon cacao powder + 3-5 drops stevia
- Spirulina Mint – 3 Tablespoons chia seeds + 1 Cup cashew milk + 10 mint leaves, finely chopped + 1 teaspoon spirulina powder + 3-5 drops stevia
- Add all ingredients to your blender and process until super smooth.
